Hi there - my name is Jason Floyd Coleman.

I'm 31 years old and was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a musician, and I'm thankful to have the opportunity to make a career out of doing something I love.

God has blessed me with a gift - I have played the piano all my life, since I was able to reach the keys as a little kid (or so my parents tell me). What makes things interesting, though, is the fact that I was fortunate enough to be born with the genes of a piano legend: my grandfather, Floyd Cramer.

Ironically, my parents had no idea when they named me after my Grandad that I would one day share the same passion for music that he had.

Music has always been an integral part of my life. Beginning at age five, I took piano lessons for eight years, which helped me develop the ability to read music. This complemented my innate ability to hear a song and imitate it very closely. To this day, I prefer playing by ear, but I truly value the ability to sightread as well.

And of course, I'm thankful to have grown up with such an incredible musical influence in my grandfather. My family has always been very close, so Grandad and I had a great relationship throughout my childhood until he passed away when I was 12 years old. While I am quick to say that I'm most proud of knowing him as just a "normal" Grandad, his impact on my development as a musician can't be understated.

Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was always involved in musicals and choirs at church and in school. After graduating from high school, I attended Belmont University in Nashville and majored in music business. It was there that I learned the ins and outs of what it would take to forge a career in the music industry. I finished my undergraduate education at Belmont in four years and graduated in 2006.

I've been a performer for as long as I can remember. In my early years, I performed on TV twice with my grandfather - once in 1989 on Nashville Now hosted by Ralph Emery and once in 1994 on Music City Tonight hosted by Lorriane Crook and Charlie Chase. I also treasure the memories of playing the piano on occasion with Grandad at his live shows.

My love of performing has only grown stronger as time has passed and I've made music my career. I got my first taste of touring as an 18-year-old when I played keyboard for concerts across the country with Dove-nominated contemporary Christian artist Greg Long. I also gained invaluable performance experience by playing for innumerable benefit concerts, weddings, receptions, and other events in and around Nashville. One such event is the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society's annual convention, where, for several years now, I've been able to play alongside some incredible musicians - including Chet's great-niece, guitarist Meagan Taylor.

I have also had the privilege of working in the studio with several artists, ranging from country music legends, like Hank Locklin, to friends around Nashville looking for their big break.

Speaking of Hank Locklin, I was thrilled when he asked me to play the piano with him at the Grand Ole Opry in October 2002. We performed "Please Help Me, I'm Falling," which my Grandad originally recorded with Hank nearly 50 years prior.

In May 2004, I was given the tremendous honor of playing for the Country Music Hall of Fame Medallion Ceremony recognizing my Grandad's induction into the Hall of Fame. It was an unforgettable experience to perform with Jimmy Capps and the Opry Band, Hank Locklin, and Maura O'Connell, all in heartfelt tribute to Grandad's life and legacy.

In 2005, I produced my first studio album, Merry Little Christmas. I followed it with Legacy and Faith over the next two years. In 2007, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Meagan Taylor on our Revival album. How awesome it was for us to record in Historic RCA Studio B with a host of amazing musicians, including the legendary Charlie McCoy and the late Boots Randolph. Meagan and I are fortunate to be able to have so much fun playing together as we revive the musical relationship shared by Grandad and Chet.

In 2009, I released my first live album, LIVE! at Langdale: The Legacy of Floyd Cramer. It was a thrill to perform and record this in front of a live audience. This album really captures the concert experience - and I'm glad to offer it as I continue to share my Legacy of Floyd Cramer concerts with audiences around the country. I followed that album with Just Me And My Piano, a collection of solo piano music, and On The Road Again, a collaboration with guitarist Richard Kiser and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica. My most recent release is a Christmas album with Meagan Taylor, A Tennessee Christmas. I'm also excited to offer a series of sheet music songbooks called The Piano Magic of Floyd Cramer which will help piano players of all ages to be able to enjoy Grandad's music on their own pianos!

In 2010, my career took its biggest step forward yet as I embarked on my very first nationwide concert tour, an experience that led me to more than 70 cities in 25 states from coast to coast in just an eight-month span. Since then, I've continued touring and traveling with my concert, The Piano Magic of Floyd Cramer, doing my part to pay tribute to Grandad's enduring legacy. As I approach the 200-concert milestone, it continues to be such a rewarding experience for my family and me to hear stories from people in every city I visit about what an impact my Grandad's music has had on their lives.

And finally, I'm especially enjoying the most significant job to come my way: being a husband! I married my sweetheart, Natalie, in 2009. We're now living happily ever after in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for the life I've been given. But just when it seems to be "as good as it gets" - somehow, it gets even better. Can't wait to see what's in store just around the bend.
